Beryllium causes a disease known as Chronic Beryllium Disease (CBD), Chronic beryllium disease (CBD) primarily affects the lungs & skin. It was a known fact that CBD can occur among people who are exposed to dust or fumes from beryllium metal, metal oxides, alloys, ceramics, or salts. However, there was a belief that solid Copper Beryllium is harmless and poses no risks.

Some of the latest research published in leading medical journals have proved that even handling of solid Copper Beryllium is dangerous and can cause Cancer. CBD usually has a very slow onset, and even very small amounts of exposure to beryllium can cause the disease in some people.
