ACTOOL Non Sparking Hand Tools
ACTOOL Non-Sparking Hand Tools
ACTOOL® Non-Sparking Hand Tools are non-sparking certified manufactured from a specially developed copper alloy designed specifically for use in environments involving highly flammable acetylene gas and related compounds.

With a copper content of less than 65%, this unique alloy significantly reduces the risk of chemical reaction between copper and acetylene, ensuring enhanced safety in critical applications.

Safe Tooling for Acetylene Handling — Why ACTOOL® Matters
Acetylene is a highly flammable gas and must be handled with utmost care, including the use of non-sparking hand tools. However, a critical safety concern is that acetylene can react with copper, the base material in most conventional non-sparking tools, through an exothermic reaction—releasing significant heat and energy.

Most commonly available non-sparking tools such as Copper Titanium, Aluminium Bronze, and Beryllium Copper contain over 90% copper, making them unsuitable for use around acetylene. In the event of a gas leak, these high-copper alloys pose a serious risk of an exothermic reaction with acetylene.
To address this safety gap, Pahwa MetalTech has developed ACTOOL®, a specially engineered low-copper alloy that is non-sparking and significantly reduces the risk of reaction with acetylene, even in the event of a leak.
