Dies and Moulds
Beryllium copper plate and rod wrought products are utilized in the plastics processing industry for plastic injection moulds, blow moulds, cavity inserts, and associated production components such as manifolds and nozzles. Also, in moulds of metal die casting dies. The material is specified in these applications due to its combination of high strength and hardness coupled with excellent thermal conductivity (as compared to tool steel and aluminium).
Alloys for Dies and Moulds
QTi are capable of producing significant per part cost reductions via their excellent thermal characteristics which allow for decreased cycle times, reducing part overhead, while maintaining good hardness, limiting the need for mould repair and refurbishment.
QTi alloys are less expensive as compared to CuBe and are relatively easy to machine, QTi Alloys offer a unique advantage of all properties of Copper Beryllium, without worrying about its effects on health. Copper Titanium alloys provide pure performance and are more economical, that significantly adds advantage to improved productivity and profitability.
QTi alloys also find a very significant application in replacing hazardous and expensive Nickel-Beryllium alloys used for moulds, cores of Aluminium Bronze die casting and gravity die casting.
