Non Sparking Cap Sealers by Pahwa MetalTech
Reliable Drum Cap Sealing Without Spark Risk in Hazardous Storage Areas
Pahwa MetalTech's Non Sparking Cap Sealers is precision-engineered for reliable, spark-free performance in the most demanding hazardous environments. Compliant with ATEX, EN, and IS standards, these tools eliminate ignition risk in oil and gas, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, mining, and explosives industries. Every tool is quality-inspected for dimensional accuracy, alloy integrity, and functional performance before delivery, ensuring Zone 0, Zone 1, and Zone 2 classified area compliance throughout service life.
Material :
Pahwa MetalTech's Non Sparking Cap Sealers is available in two premium non-sparking alloys: QTi® (Copper Titanium) and BronAL® (Aluminium Bronze).
QTi® offers superior hardness and tensile strength for heavy-duty applications, with a longer service life than conventional beryllium copper.
BronAL® delivers excellent corrosion resistance, ideal for marine, chemical, and humid environments. Both alloys comply with ATEX, EN, and IS non-sparking tool certifications and are non-magnetic, ensuring safety in Zone 0, Zone 1, and Zone 2 classified areas. Material test reports and special certifications are available on request.
Size and Range :
Pahwa MetalTech offers the Non Sparking Cap Sealers in the following specifications: Small and large cap for chemical drums.
The range covers the most common operational requirements for hazardous area maintenance.
All sizes are manufactured to precise tolerances for reliable fit and performance. Custom sizes and configurations beyond the standard range are available on request for specific site requirements or OEM applications. Contact Pahwa MetalTech for custom configuration enquiries.
Applications :
Pahwa MetalTech's Non Sparking Cap Sealers is used across critical hazardous industries.
Chemical manufacturing plants, solvent warehouses, petroleum depots, paint distribution centres, pharmaceutical API production areas, agrochemical storage facilities, automotive lubricant filling operations, and hazardous goods export packaging operations.
In all these applications, QTi® and BronAL® non-sparking alloys eliminate ignition risk from tool-to-surface contact, protecting personnel, equipment, and facilities. These tools help operations teams comply with OISD, PESO, ATEX, and other international safety frameworks governing classified zones.

Do's
- Match the cap sealer precisely to the drum cap size — small and large caps require distinctly different tools.
- Clean the drum cap thread with a lint-free cloth before sealing to remove product residue that reduces seal integrity.
- Apply the sealer squarely — a canted approach cross-threads the cap and can cause leaks during transport.
- Check the gasket or liner inside the cap for cracking or deformation before sealing — replace if degraded.
- Use controlled, moderate torque — the sealing gasket should compress but not be extruded beyond the thread.
- Bond the drum before sealing if it contains static-sensitive highly flammable solvents below their flash point.
- Mark sealed drums with the tightening torque and operator ID as required by site dangerous goods procedure.
- Test the seal integrity with a damp cloth around the cap after sealing to detect any vapour escape before storage.
Donts
- Never over-tighten drum caps — excessive torque splits the cap, damages the gasket, and creates a leak under vibration.
- Do not seal a cap onto a drum that shows signs of bung thread corrosion — the thread will fail under transport stress.
- Avoid using the cap sealer in one hand while holding the drum with the other — secure the drum independently first.
- Do not use a cap sealer as a bung wrench for opening duties — the engagement geometry differs and it will slip.
- Never seal drums of reactive chemicals outdoors in high-wind conditions — airborne sparks from nearby equipment are a risk.
- Do not attempt to re-seal a cap on a drum that has been dented near the bung thread — the deformation prevents proper sealing.
- Avoid using chemical solvent to clean the cap sealer without confirming the solvent is compatible with the alloy.
- Do not use the cap sealer on UN-certified drums with non-standard bung caps — custom fittings require custom tools.
